Oltenia Geopark below the mountainIt means projects and actions in several directions of development:

1. Territory evaluation: natural heritage (geodiversity and biodiversity) and local cultural, social and economic conditions, development prospects.

2. Promotion of the local heritage: direct, online, in the press, through promotional materials, local products and events, through the ambassadors of the Geopark in the community and abroad.

3. Capitalizing on local heritage, especially through ecotourism and geotourism, through the creation of local products, services and programs.

4. Education: the programRanger Juniorand the program of geoclubs in schools in the territory of the Geopark.

5. Visiting infrastructure: creation and maintenance of thematic routes, hiking routes, bicycle, climbing, information points, signage of objectives.

6. The development strategy of Oltenia under the mountain for 2030.

7. Local partnerships and strategic partnerships.

Ongoing projects:

1.Bioregional Weaving LabsIt is an international project, initiated in 2020, with partners from several European countries (Sweden, Ireland, Romania, Spain, France, Germany, the Netherlands), coordinated by theAshoka Europe, ,CommonlandandPresence Institute, which proposes the ecological, social and economic regeneration of 1 million hectares in Europe, by activating 1 million people.

Oltenia under the mountain is part of this project, with objectives of economic and social regeneration of the territory.

2.Ranger Junioris the environmental education program ofKogayon Association, carried out since 2007 and continuously developed, with the aim of involving children in activities of knowledge, appreciation and conservation of nature. So far, more than 5000 children have participated in this program for free.

To this is added the program of geoclubs. Up to the present time being establishedCostesti Geoclub, which carried out in 2022 a project for and with the children and teaching staff of the Ferigile Costești General School. The Horezu Geoclub is being established, in the C-tin Brâncoveanu Horezu School Group.

3. Elaboration of the development strategy of Oltenia under the mountain for 2030.

4. Vatra Satului – project for the development of a thematic route in the village of Costești, in partnership withVatra InnandVâlcea Community Foundation. .

5. Territorial evaluation activities, promotion and valorization of local heritage.
